Lil' Toad?

When Sheila was a little girl, her mom affectionately referred to her as her "Lil' Toad."  This is a little ironic since Sheila turned out to be her mom's 6 foot tall daughter.  But that doesn't stop her, her mom still calls her "Lil' Toad."  When Sheila was toying around with ideas for a herd name to register her goats under a little toad showed up on her back patio and the rest is history.

 Sheila a.k.a Lil' Toad

Hi there!  I'm Sheila, or Lil' Toad if your my momma :)  I'm the lead learner on this Nubian goat ranching experience.  That's my girl Darla in the background nibbling my straw hat.

Our Story

It all started with a desire for our two sons to participate in 4H.  When we purchased our home in Surprise in July of 2013 we knew we wanted to take advantage of the oppurtunity to raise animals on the land we owned.  So we signed our kids up with a local 4-H club and decided to look for Boer's and chickens for our kids' 4-H projects.  As we set out to do that a dear friend offered to give us two registerd buck Nubians through a freind of hers. And so began our story with Nubians.

Our first Nubians were Hillbilly Acres Jed Clampett and his cousin "Bubba".   We took them home not knowing anything more than we were gonna feed and water them.  As I began researching and reading like a mad woman I learned we had two very good milking line bucks on our hands.  I still didn't know what to do so I advertised one of the bucks for trade.  That's how we acquired Darla, our first doe.  At the time I didn't know much about registration or Purebred Nubians vs. American Nubians or any of the paperwork I should ask for.  I am very lucky we ended up with a healthy, good-tempered, delicous milk producer.

We brought Darla home from a small ranch in Prescott, AZ in October of 2013 and put her in the pen with our ADGA buck who we renamed Duke.  We kept them together for a couple months and then waited.  And read.  And observed.  And searched.  And read more.  And in March of 2014 we got the awesome pleasure of being at Darla's side while she kidded Daylight and Daisy.

And so began our very small suburban ranch in Surprise, Arizona.  We plan to raise ADGA registered Purebred and American Nubian dairy goats in a holistic manner.  All our goats are well loved and very fun.  We count it a blessing to get to raise these curious creatures God made.  We LOVE our goat's creamy, sweet milk and so do all our friends and former skeptics who have tasted our Nubian milk.  It's the best!  We breed our goats for delicious milk and all-around healthy, happy animals.  If you are interested in purchasing one of our sweet Nubians or learning more about sweet Nubian milk, visit our contact page.

We'd love to have you out to our little ranch just for a visit.

Blessings!

Sheila
