Welcome Esmerelda!

Today I brought home our first purebred Nubian doe. Di-Rich Farms Esmerelda. "Esie", as we are affectionately calling her, is the progeny of M's Sagebrush Maxim Spartacus and Wingwood Farm Tim's Esperanza. Both herds are known for their excellent Nubians. Esie is bred to Pella's Triple C Electrum.

Both Electrum and Esmerelda were residing at Di-Rich Farms with their owners Dianne and Richard so I got the privelege of seeing Electrum in person. He is a very handsome and correct young buck. I'm confident that the breeding between Electrum and Esie will produce excellent offspring to begin our purebred Nubian line.

This being our first time introducing a new goat to our herd I have spent the evening feeling a bit nervous about it. Nubians are a very vocal breed of goat. When they're hungry or distressed or one of their herd leaves or when one is introduced to a new herd, they bleet incessantly. It's not really a bleet. It's a scream. A very loud, distressing scream. The screaming has stopped for Esie thank goodness. I'm hoping tomorrow, she'll feel more secure as we begin to integrate her to life at Lil' Toad Ranch.

Esmerelda "Esie" being welcomed by our wether Danny.
